11 interesting facts about the Friends you probably didn’t know about


The last season of the series finished in 2004 but since then we have all watched Friends many times again and again. We enjoyed the comic situations and romance between the three young men and three young women during the then seasons. There are many interesting facts about the characters of  the best TV series of all time. If you like to feed your nostalgia, here we have listed some of the most interesting.


1. The six friends of the cast were one of the highest paid TV show actors. They negotiated their salaries together as a true friends so they were also equally paid.  They were inseparable, and they always did everything together. They were best friends behind the cameras as well, took care of each other and didn’t allowed any hierarchy of importance among them. They always appeared together on photo shoots and were in the same award categories.



2. This TV show was initially developed under the title Insomnia Cafe.  Before the final title Friends was agreed, the producers discussed titles Friends Like Us, Six of One, and Across the Hall.  After finishing their college  and moving to New York the creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman pitched the idea  for TV series about  “six young people in their 20s making their way in Manhattan” to the NBC. They had to change and rewrite the seven-page script several times before the pilot premiered on September 22, 1994.



3. David Schwimmer had more than one job in the show. Besides playing the hopeless romantic paleontologist Ross Geller,  David Schwimmer directed ten of the show’s episodes and he had to do more directorial work after the series came to an end. He was also very particular about not being typecast and went on to work on Steven Spielberg’s Band of Brothers in which he portrayed Captain Herbert M. Sobel.



4. The Friends 30-second commercial spots for the  final episode were the most expensive commercial slots of any TV program in the UK with the exception of sports. It was  sold in the UK for £1.2 million (approx $1.8 million)
