Ah, Japan. The land where unfathomable weirdness is locked in an eternal battle with cuteness overload – at the same time. How is it even possible? There’s Godzilla, but there’s Pokémon. There’s anime, and there’s hentai. And a bunch of other weird things! But it’s so kawaii too!
Damn it. Well, let’s leave it to science to one day solve the contradictions of Japan. Today, we’re in the mood for some enjoyment from Japan (thanks to 9GAG for the tasty meal!). Yup, you guessed it, we’ll be looking at food today.
More specifically, we have onigiri rice balls on today’s menu. But what is onigiri? Well, it’s also called omusubi, and it’s basically balls of rice usually wrapped in seaweed leaves. Sometimes they contain filling made of vegetables or meat, but sometimes they don’t.
But, today’s onigiri rice balls aren’t really… balls. They’re actually pokemons. And they just might be too cute to eat.
The genius behind these is an Instagram user who goes by the name of @peaceloving_pax – a person who actually says they’re a doctor. Besides putting their Pokémon rice balls on Instagram, they also share their dishes on their Facebook page called Cute Foodies.
And I must say, I can’t decide what to do with these rice “balls”! Should I squee at them because of their over-the-top cuteness? Should I eat them, because they look so tasty?
I just don’t know! But since they’re out of chopstick reach for now, squeeing out of cuteness overload it is!
I mean, just LOOK at them! Pokémon never looked so good!
I am melting! This person is the best doctor one can have!
