Aldi’s Own Brand Gin Has Just Been Voted As The Best In The World

Aldi is getting a lot of attention in the media for being one of the best supermarket chains that just happened to expand to the UK, and the Brits are absolutely loving it! Even though it’s a cut-price chain, it’s making people’s summers tons better, with cheap hot tubs, outdoor pizza ovens and 18-inch Tomahawk steaks for peanut money.

And more recently, they really outdid themselves, specifically in the alcohol department. Their own brand gin that they sell, which only costs $13, and it has been voted as one of the very best in the world.

The Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin that they sell was awarded a gold medal at the IWSC. To put that in perspective, it scored higher than a gin that costs $52. We are living in a brave new world, people.

So good news for gin lovers and cheap-skates, and for cheap-skate gin lovers like me… well, we’re just having the best day ever.

And it’s not just the gin that scored Aldi brownie points: they picked up 20 medals at the same competition for the other spirits that they sell in the range, and they also won Supermarket Own Brand Spirits Range Of The Year at the International Spirits Challenge.

A spokesperson from the International Spirits Challenge told the MailOnline: “The display of awards achieved by Aldi this year at the International Spirits Challenge was fantastic.

“They consistently showcased high quality products in the blind tastings, which demonstrates that you don’t have to compromise on price to enjoy great tasting drinks.” Too right, mate.

So, the next time you have tonic laying around the house on your trip to the UK, you might wanna go for a quick haul at Aldi and get their gin for the best experience. Pair it with a quality simmer of tonic and you’ll have one of the best drinks of the year that wasn’t even that expensive!

Please Aldi, expand to the US. Walmart will never have this type of stuff. Please.
