One Brazilian aunt has been winning hearts at cosplay conventions in her country and has now charmed thousands of followers worldwide with both her costumes and her age-defying spirit.
Solange (aka Tia Sol, meaning “Aunty Sun”) from Manaus, Brazil, buys individual pieces online and puts the costumes together all by herself. “A friend said that I wouldn’t have the guts,” Solange told BuzzFeed News. “I chose a character and had the costume made without saying another word.”
Despite her global internet following, the adorable aunt mostly cosplays in her hometown Manaus, the capital of the Amazonian rainforest in the north of Brazil. “I don’t miss a single event in my city. I’d really like to visit other ones, but have you seen the price of the fares?”
“I never thought that I would be well received among the young people, I’ve made a lot of friends during all of this,” Solange, whose favorite cosplays include Yubaba from Spirited Away and Muriel from Courage the Cowardly Dog, admits. “I can launch myself into the world of make-believe, where anything goes. At the moment I’m finishing up the painting on my new cosplay, Granny Juju from Jorel’s Brother,” the charming cosplayer revealed her projects for a convention in December. Until then, check out some of her best costumes so far.
