The results of the annual Gallup World Poll came out on Wednesday, December 27, and 56-year-old Barack Obama tops the”Most Admired Man in the World” list once again. This is the tenth time that the former US President has received the coveted title.
Two former First Ladies topped the female counterpart: 70-year-old Hilary Clinton ranked first on the “Most Admired Woman in the World” list, followed by 53-three-year-old Michelle Obama.
For the 10th year running, Obama has proven he is still number one in many people’s hearts. Too bad there isn’t a vote on “Most Admired Kids” because his daughters Sasha and Malia would probably get it, too.
The survey, which is conducted by the American research-based, global performance-management consulting company Gallup, Inc., reports empirical evidence about how people think and behave.
According to the findings, the second-most admired man is current US President Donald Trump.
While Barack and Hillary managed to stay on the top this year, too, Gallup notes that the margins were narrower than before. Obama led Trump by 17% to 14% this year, while Hillary edged out Michelle nine percent to seven. It is quite different than last year when Obama led Trump by 22% to 15%.
Gallup also says that the current American President has featured on the list 71 times since 1946 and has topped it 58 times.
Other men in the top 10 list include Pope Francis, Rev. Billy Graham, John McCain, Elon Musk, Bernie Sanders, Bill Gates, Benjamin Netanyahu, Jeff Bezos, The Dalai Lama and Mike Pence – basically a mixture of politicians and religious figures.
The “Most Admired Woman” list is far more diverse, including Oprah Winfrey, Elizabeth Warren, Angela Merkel, Queen Elizabeth II, Condoleeza Rice, Melania Trump, Nikki Haley, Duchess Kate Middleton and Beyonce Knowles. Way to go, ladies!
Oprah came in third, and finished in the top ten for the 30th time! Hillary’s up there for the 26th time.
First Lady Melania Trump, current United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and Beyonce made their first appearances this year.
Here is why Barack Obama is an awesome dad, too.
