Best Friends’ Body Positivity Photo Shoot Is Truly Inspiring

body

It’s not the outward appearance, but what’s inside that counts. How many times have we heard that phrase? It’s a cliché, I know, but that doesn’t make it any less true. And to prove exactly how true that is, we only need to take a look at best friends Glitter and Nikki.

They couldn’t look any less alike. One is big, one is small. One is covered in ink, the other one doesn’t have a single tattoo. Their hairstyles are completely different as well: one has blonde medium-length hair, while the other one has half her head shaved, half covered in bright red curls.

And yet, they couldn’t be any more alike. The two share the same passions, the same hobbies, the same outlook on the world. And they are best friends. So, to celebrate their differences and their similarity, and to show the world that perceptions can be deceiving, Glitter and Nikki did a photo shoot together.

Body positivity advocate and one of Instagram’s favorite fashionistas, Glitter (@glitterandlazers) from Cleveland, Ohio joined forces with her BFF Nikki (@tattooedyogimama) to share a powerful message with the help of photographer Ashley Flaig. Glitter shared the photos on her Instagram along with a few well-chosen words, bound to make us take a moment before making unjustified assumptions.

This is my best friend. She’s wears the smallest size in this bralette set and I wear almost the largest. We are very very very different. And people often only see our differences. But all I can see when we’re together is how similar we are. We both love to dance. We both love to make up elaborate backstories to tell drunken strangers. We both love to play dress up. We both love animals and treat them like people. We both have to keep a weird diet to make sure our bodies feel their best. It makes me sad how many amazing women miss out on knowing each other because they let something so simple as physical appearance cloud who they think a person is. Sure Nikki and I don’t look alike. Heck we don’t always think alike, but the things that we have in common have bonded us forever and I am so so grateful to have her in my life. Take chances in getting to know others, move past your perceptions, and I promise you will be rewarded with some amazing friendships you never thought possible. 📸by @ashleyflaigphotography #lasvegas #bodypositive #love #friendship

And if that doesn’t inspire you to be more tolerant and less judgmental, then nothing will!
