Bloating, abdominal swelling and discomfort and gassiness are common ailments both among children and adults. Bloating is a condition in which your feel uncomfortable, and you feel a swelling in your abdominal region and your stomach is constantly emitting gasses.
Here is a list of the most common causes of bloating.
1. Irregular Diet
Eating at a different time each day is one of the most common causes of bloating. This way your digestion system is placed under a lot of pressure and your bloated abdomen might be its way of giving out a warning. This habit also may cause a rise in your sugar and insulin levels. Skipping breakfast, starving yourselves or binge eating before going to bed will probably result in feelings of jadedness and bloatedness at some point.
Try having consistent meal times and eating properly. Breakfast is best served within an hour of waking up, lunch should be around midday and dinner not later than 8 pm. Light snacks in between optional.
2. Insulin Resistance
Insulin is the hormone that is released from the pancreas into the blood in response to glucose. When a normal and healthy body (i.e. not insulin resistant) releases insulin, the hormone stimulates our cells to utilize the glucose and the fat that’s in our blood stream.
Insulin resistance develops when the cells stop responding to the hormone, resulting in the body receiving higher levels of insulin than needed, which eventually leads to high blood pressure.
Some of the most common symptoms of insulin resistance include weight gain, tiredness, increased appetite, craving for sweets and carbohydrates, and constant bloatedness (also during night time).
If you have such symptoms, get tested for insulin resistance. The condition is treatable and reversible with a special diet regimen and lots of exercise.
