Bridesmaids’ Dresses From The 90s Might Seem Funny Today, But The Laughs Are Full Of Memories And Love

22 years ago, children’s author Tammi Sauer stood before the altar backed by her seven bridesmaids and married her husband Ron. The author from Edmond, Oklahoma recently took a stroll down memory lane on her wedding anniversary, which included reflecting on her bridesmaids’ matching dresses – a reminiscing that ended up in hilarity and laughter.

“These two 22-year-olds are celebrating 22 years of marriage! Hubba-hubba,” Tammi, who has had 28 picture books published, wrote on Facebook on the 17th of June.

She concluded by saying with a little tongue-in-cheek, “My apologies for those dresses, ladies,” referring to the burgundy gowns her friends wore at her 1995 wedding.

“The bridesmaid dresses were made from a Jessica McClintock pattern and miles of burgundy brocade fabric,” Sauer said of the gowns, which were hand sewn by moms, grandmas, and local seamstresses.

The comment was soon picked up by one of the bridesmaids, Tammy’s old college friend Heidi Mann who made the point that such a 90s gem never goes out of style.

“What do you mean sorry about the dresses? I wear mine all the time,” the old college friend wrote posting various pictures of her wearing the dress while doing various menial tasks around the house.

Mann, who lives in a suburb of Kansas City with her husband and two kids, told HuffPost she was inspired to stage the mini photo shoot because she felt no apology was necessary.

“I did the same thing to my bridesmaids. I was certain I was getting them dresses that they would be able to wear again ― I wasn’t,” she said. “But the thought of someone determined to get good use out of their bridesmaid’s dresses by wearing them for everyday activities made me laugh and I knew it would make Tammi laugh, too.”

“This right here is the best anniversary present ever,” Tammy commented at her friend’s joke, with many Facebook users equally impressed.

“Above and beyond. Clearly the best bridesmaid of all time,” one user wrote.
