It is normal for celebrities to hang out with other celebrities. But they surely relate to more than just their mutual fame, money, and jobs. Sometimes, true friendships can develop starting as early as childhood, which is the case with these awesome BFFs. Starting from an early age, these pairs have found their way to become famous. True friendships or just celebrities hanging out?
Let’s delve into the lives of celebrities BFFs.
1. Kim Kardashian and Nicole Richie
Both of the girls have famous dads. Kim’s dad, Robert Kardashian was a high profile Hollywood lawyer and Nicole’s father is award-winning musician Lionel Richie. The two even lived near each other and ended up inseparable. Kim posted a picture of them saying:
“#ThrowbackThursday @nicolerichie and I being oh so cool at 13 years old.”
2. Jonah Hill and Adam Levine
Jonah is a young comedic actor and Adam is a rock star, but the two bonded in junior high and even carpooled together. Jonah told Playboy:
“Adam was like family, and he still is… I don’t see him as a rock star. He’s just a great person to me… Adam has been there for me and my family, and his family has been there for my family more than anyone else. That guy has all my love and respect forever.”
Jonah also officiated Adam’s wedding in August. Long live their friendship!
3. Courtney Love and Drew Barrymore
Drew is the godmother of Frances Bean Cobain, and the two met a looong time ago, according to Courtney who said she met Drew in a bathroom while smoking. And Drew did become more of an America’s sweetheart-romantic comedy starring girl, but Courtney remains as wild as ever.
4. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie
These two starred in The Simple Life together for a reason. Growing up in Bel-Air made them best friends. They have their separate ways now, but Richi said:
“Paris is somebody that’s been in my life since day one. I haven’t spoken to her in a while technically, but, if you really want to get into it, my view of a friendship is someone that you don’t necessarily have to talk to you every day.”
5. Kate Hudson and Liv Tyler
It’s no surprise that Kate and Liv knew each other because of their famous parents, Goldie Hawn and Steven Tyler, respectively. They attended the same high school together, and they even locked lips in the little known film Dr. T & the Worm.
6. Amanda Seyfried and Mae Whitman
Fans of Arrested Development know Mae as Ann Veal or may know her from her numerous voice work, including in the cartoon Avatar: The Last Airbender. The two have kept their relationship as an important part of their lives and have even been each other’s date on the red carpet.
7. Aubrey Plaza and John Gallagher Jr.
These met when they were 15 and acted in community theatre in Delaware. They dated for a bit, but remained friends.
8. Sean Penn and Nicolas Cage
Sean and Nic are now superstars in the acting world. Both were seeking roles at the same time and became best friends when they were co-starring in the cult teen classic Fast Times at Ridgemont High and again in Racing with the Moon.
9. Jon Hamm and Paul Rudd
These Hollywood men both have an amazing sense of humor off-screen. Paul was a college freshman and Jon was a junior at a private high school.
“We both kind of liked the same girl, so I was not so crazy about Jon.”
But they became best friends after all.
10. Tommy Lee Jones and Al Gore
They became friends in their late teens. Then, they became college roommates for their freshman year at Harvard.
Tommy was asked to host the Nobel Peace Prize concert when Gore was a recipient, and he even announced Al’s nomination for presidential candidate in 2000. That is what you call a true friendship!
11. Christopher Reeve and Robin Williams
These two amazing actors were the only advanced students in a class of 20 actors who entered Juilliard in 1973. After Reeve got thrown from a horse, he stated that Robin helped and gave him hope. Robin also said Christopher was giving him food during his school days.
12. Rashida Jones and Michael Jackson
The King of Pop was 18-years older than Rashida, but they were still buddies. Rashida’s father, the music legend Quincy Jones was the reason they met. Sadly, Michael isn’t here to see Rashida’s successful music and television career.
13. Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman
These two blonde starlets met in high school. I can imagine them doing sleepovers and going to parties. Naomi said they shared a “naughty, wicked sense of humor.”
“Naomi Watts and I are very, very good friends and have maintained that through many things… I think that’s really rare, particularly for actresses, and I take a lot of pride in that,” Kidman told the Telegraph.
14. Tyra Banks and Kimora Lee Simmons
They were 17 and 18 years old and met when they were both supermodels for Chanel in the ’90s. They eventually lived together and became besties. Tyra is the godmother to Simmons’ oldest daughter, Ming Lee.
15. Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez
Remember Barney & Friends? These two were close before Justin Bieber hit YouTube. In an interview with Seventeen, Selena explained about a falling out between the two while Demi was in rehab in 2010:
“I’ve known her since we were 7, and we did fall apart for a while. She was going through things and I was so young and it was confusing. I processed it saying, ‘OK, I don’t understand what she’s going through so I’m just going to do this.’ I don’t think it was fair, and I’m so happy that I have her back in my life now.”
Happy to have them back as BFFs.
16. Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio
They made great friends onscreen in The Great Gatsby, but they’ve known each other for decades. As kids, they would go to the same auditions. DiCaprio was the one who just wanted to be friends with Tobey, stating that he remembers yelling at Tobey from across a parking lot for his number:
“Tobey! Give me your number.” He was like, ‘Yeah, who are you again?'” And look at them now.
