You May Be Surprised At These 12 Celebrity Imperfections


As imperfect as humans are, the need to create Gods amongst us, is as old as humanity itself. We organise ourselves into social groups creating a hierarchy where we bequeath special powers on to the leader, forgetting or ignoring, that they are human too. There is a myth that a Spanish king spoke with a lisp, instead of ridiculing him as they would to any commoner, the population borrowed the speech defect and it became fashionable before settling into the language.

The masses hero-worship celebrities today and see their movie personas as proof of their art and talent, their impeccable style, and their rehearsed lines, enable them to stand out from the great unwashed. Yet, we are fools, as these people are no different from us and are as vulnerable to human flaws as the rest of us.

1. Tina Fey – Facial scar

Comedy writer and actress, Tina Fey, has a faint scar under her lip reaching up to her lower cheek. the scar is the result of a horrific attack. When she was 5 years old she was playing in her front yard when a stranger pulled a knife on her. Luckily she survived the attack and hasn’t let it control her life, though she does prefer to be filmed from the right.


2. Megan Fox – Misshapen thumbs

Not only is Megan a star on the screen she is also a star at hiding her brachydactyly, a condition which causes misshapen and short wide nails on the thumbs.


3. Denzel Washington – Misshapen finger


Washington snapped his little finger while playing basketball as a child. It was never set correctly, so it healed in an awkward position, pointing away from his hand.


4. Joaquin Phoenix – Facial scar


Phoenix was born with his signature scar above his lip, which is a mild form of cleft palate.


5. Gerard Butler – Uneven ear sizes


Resulting from ear surgery when he was child, Butler has one ear larger than the other. Butler was unaware of the incongruity until he had to shave his head for a role. He also suffers from tinnitus in his right ear.


6. Jennifer Garner – Overlapping little toe


Jennifer Garner has a shorter little toe resulting from a condition called brachymetatarsia. The toe bone is shorter allowing it to overlap on the other toe.


7. Ashton Kutcher – Webbed toes


Syndactyly is the medical name for webbed toes, which affects 1 out of every 2500 births. Kutcher’s occurs between the second and third toes which is the most normal area to be webbed.


8. Seal – Facial scars


Seal recently revealed that his scars are the result of an auto immune disease called discoid lupus, which affects the head and neck. Seal’s symptoms started when he was just a teenager, although it’s more common for the disease to affect people between 20–40.


9. Gemma Arterton – Extra fingers


Only tiny scars remain of Gemma Arterton’s condition polydactyly, which leads to the extra fingers. Arterton was born with six fingers on each hand, the sixth being a boneless digit beside her little finger. Doctors starved these fingers of blood, so they fell off, leaving a slight scar as a reminder.


10. Stephen Colbert – Ear defect


When Stephen Colbert was 10 years old he needed surgery to get a tumor removed, which left him with uneven ears.


11. Bradley Cooper, Mark Wahlberg, Lily Allen – Third nipple


Cooper, Wahlberg and Allen have all admitted to having supernumerary nipples, and Cooper has even shown his on TV.


12. David Bowie, Mila Kunis – Different-coloured eyes


Heterochromia iridis or heterochromia iridum are the scientific terms given for people with different eye color. Different colored eyes are also common in some breeds of cats and dogs, most notably the Siberian Husky.
