Many fans, friends, and family were left devastated when the frontman of Linkin Park, Chester Bennington was found dead at his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California, on July 20 this year. The musician, who was aged 41 at the time of his death and who had suffered from depression and addiction problems, committed suicide by hanging himself at his home in Los Angeles. He was not only a loved rock star and actor, but also a devoted father, husband, and an outspoken advocate for people dealing with drug addiction. And for his kids, he did something amazing that’s mentioned in his will.
Bennington was a loving husband to Talinda Bennington, and a father to six children. Three of his children were from the marriage with Talinda, and three from previous relationships.
In the wake of his death, Talinda shared a picture of the Linkin Park singer with his family that was taken just days before he passed away. The picture says a lot about him. He was a caring family man until the very end.

Later on, she posted a video to Twitter that showed the Dead by Sunrise singer playing a game with some of his children. This happened less than 36 hours before he ended his own life. ‘He loved us SO much & we loved him,’ she writes, as is very evident from the footage.

Chester’s love for his children didn’t stop here. He wanted to make sure that his family remained happy and taken care of. According to TMZ, Chester’s will included a specific request that his children would all be permitted and encouraged to visit one another.
His will says:
“I request that my children’s mothers or guardians encourage and allow my children to visit with one another and with my extended family and the extended family of my spouse on a regular and ongoing basis, so that my children know that they have a large and loving family.”
There is another important detail as well. Bennington specified that all travel costs during visits to other family members should be taken from his family trust. As a matter of fact, even if the children don’t have enough money, they would always have someone to go to in times of need.
Talinda also made sure that his children remember him as a positive person as well as spreading awareness of mental health problems. She also set up a charity in his honor and sends personal messages to people going through tough times. For that purpose, she uses the hashtags , #f*ckdepression and #makechesterproud.
There are so many other memories that Chester will be remembered for. Shortly before his death, the singer performed with his band with Ken Jeong for Carpool Karaoke. Chester’s family allowed for the footage to be aired. At the beginning of the video, this message appears:
“With the blessing of Chester’s family and his bandmates, we share this episode and dedicate it to the memory of Chester. This was taped July 14, 2017.”
Bennington’s legacy and his message still live on.
Here‘s the last text message he sent right before he died.
