Every boy had Superman costume at least once in a lifetime. Sometimes they are wearing it a few days more after Halloween. It’s normal if a kid likes to identify with a superhero. Even the psychologist are saying it’s beneficial sometimes. Boys are becoming more confident this way. After a while, they are dumping the costume themselves.
But the Filipino, Herbert Chavez never dumped his Superman costume. This man even underwent 23 surgeries to look as much as possible as his favorite superhero. The biggest Superman fan, as he calls himself, spent lot’s of money during a period of 18 years to have nose jobs, skin whitening, lip liposuction, jaw realignment, butt, hips and peck implants.
He was very close to making his dream come true until the US doctors refused to give him the “abs of steal.” It turned out that he was using MesoLipo filler which is considered to be Illegal in the US.
“Superman has always been my obsession since I saw one of his movies at the age of four” Herbert declared. During his teenage years, he became a nerd who “loved superheroes.”
He started to look like Supermen when he got blue eye contacts from his friend in 1997.
After one year he made his firs operation. He fixed his nose.
At the age of 22, he got lucky and earned a lot working as a dress designer for the Saudi Arabia Royals for three years and had his own catering shop. He was then able to afford the expensive transformation during the next 18 years.
In 2011 was halfway to the fulfillment of his dream.
Next on the list for surgery was cutting away the fat. He thinned his nose several times and got a cleft chin. He bleached his dark skin, made his lips fuller and had liposuction in his belly, realigned his jaw, and implants to bulk up his pecs, butt, and hips.
Some surgeries were for free, yet he thinks that he spent around $6000
But when he was about to get “abs of steel” he had to stop. Call them villains if you like, he could not fight the doctors.
In the Philipines, he is called “Pinoy Superman” and he says he strongly believes in actually becoming a Superman.
“I want to spread the message that we can all be superheroes, that all of us have that potential within,” says Chavez.
“There have been certain incidents in my life which have made me realize that I’m a real Superman. For example, I’m almost 40 years old and I still have no wrinkles. Isn’t it too much of a coincidence?”
It’s ironic, but Chavez is lazy and sugar lover.
To get his abs like the superhero, he didn’t want to exercise. Therefore he injected MesoLipo filler in his belly and chest.
Doctors were horrified.
It was going to be hazardous to operate due to the poisonous filler he injected. The illegal substance gave “Superman” spots and bumps.
“‘This Superman needs to get into the gym,’ said Dr Dubrow. “Abs of steel should be gained by exercising and eating right.”
Chavez admitted he loves his chocolate but said he was disappointed.
Guinness World Records recognized him in June 2013. Not because of his look.
