On Co-Sleeping: A Father Shares His Sentiment

Co-sleeping has always led to heated discussions between parents and anyone on this planet that has the right of an opinion.
It is the practice in which babies and young children sleep close to one or both parents.
The sensory proximity to one another helps kids feel safe and protected, and it’s a way of creating a deeper bond between the child and the parent.
This practice has been met with a lot of criticism and stigma since an intoxicated, Wisconsin woman was convicted of a second-degree murder after she fell asleep on top of her baby.
David Brinkley from Yukon, Oklahoma has shared his thoughts on this ritual on Facebook that has since then gone viral.

He said that he overheard his wife and a friend talking in one particular instance on co-sleeping.

“Doesn’t your husband hate that? My husband would never let me do that,” he heard the other person say to his wife.
“This blew my mind and has bothered me for days,” he said.

Namely, the post was inspired to give moral support to all the mothers who decide pro-co-sleeping.

His wife Alora is one of them. She regularly sleeps together with their two children, a toddler and a baby.
Sharing an image of them sleeping alongside each other a rather well-versed post on why he supports this practice.

“So I just decided to come out as a man and set a few things straight. I do NOT hate any part of what makes my wife the mother that she is,” he said.
“I would NEVER degrade or disregard anything that she feels like doing for my children,” he added.

He says he is proud of the decisions that his wife makes as a mom and he supports every single one of them!

“Do I have to squeeze into a small corner of the bed sometimes? Yeah? But my God how beautiful does she look holding my children? Making them feel loved and safe?”

David says that he is very aware that these precious moments will be gone in the blink of an eye and that children will oppose physical feelings of affection as soon as they’ve grown older.

So, the logical reaction is to share a lot of time with your kids and cherish those moments!
“I would never want to rob her of this time she has or these seasons that are in reality too short to not enjoy. Please respect your wives as mothers.”

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that firm mattress is used to prevent any unwanted results.
The risk of the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is highly reduced with these mattresses since the child sleeps without too many obstructions around such as pillows or blankets.
Turns out more than half a million of Americans that liked the post share the same sentiment!
“Sorry to say, I’ve never known or been with a man who is this compassionate and respectful as a husband AND a daddy,” wrote one user.
“Cosleeping is the best!! My ex didn’t see it that way,” they added.
Another user added: “Thank you for showing that true partnerships still exists … The love, support and loyalty you show for each other is amazing and truly how it should be when so often it is not.”
