Social media is full of all kinds of people and things, and we’re more than happy to show you that. One thing that’s relatively common is optical illusions, there are tons of double-take photos floating around cyber world. You see a photo, you scroll past it, but then go back and take a second look because something’s not right about it. A little voice inside your head goes ‘Is that what I think?…No…wait!’, then you get back for the ‘aha’ moment and everything is alright again.
I hope you’re prepared for this illusion, as brought to us by Viral Thread.
Take a look at the photo of this couple. It seems normal. Just a couple smiling away, having a good time on vacation, everything seems normal, you scroll past it.
But then, you notice something, and immediately scroll back up to see what you missed.
This is not some kind of act of public nudity, or uploaded by accident. The uploader, Summerie, who shared the photo on Reddit, was just having some fun.
“My friend posted a new profile pic with her boyfriend, and everyone took a double take…”
A user commented that:
“At first, in the thumbnail I thought he was totally naked. Then i realized that was his hand. Then I clicked it and realized it was her legs. Then I went back to the thumbnail, and I thought they must’ve done that intentionally. Then i clicked it again and realized they didn’t. This post has been an absolute emotional rollercoaster for me.”
The responses kept rolling in, making this one of Reddit’s top posts, referred to by one Redditor as “Riskiest thumbnail of the day!” Another commented: “He had some smooooooooth legs… at first”.
So, the next time you see something that simply doesn’t look right on Facebook, don’t just let your dirty mind immediately jump to conspiracies or considering reporting the account. They may or may not be messing with your head.
