So far, we’ve discovered so many details about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement! The thirty-six-year-old actress is engaged to 33-year-old Prince Harry and they announced it on 27 November. It was anything but traditional and they are not strict about following any royal codes as well. Fans seem to be wondering one thing, though. What would Meghan’s wedding dress look like? Will it be traditional? Who will design it? So many questions, but one of them may be answered soon. According to the Jerusalem Post newspaper, an Israeli designer has been approached by the Royal Family so as to give a sketch of Meghan’s potential dress.
Inbal Dror is well known for revealing necklines and sexy designs. These are far from the traditional dresses the Royal family wears.
The Tel Aviv-based designer is known in the fashion circles for her daring hand-woven outfits. Some of these even have necklines that plunge down to the bride’s waist! Would that be Meghan Markle’s choice?
The designer has collaborated with many stars, including singer Beyonce, who wore a typically form-fitting piece from her 2016 collection at the Grammy Awards.
In an interview with Elle magazine last year, Miss Dror spoke about the uniqueness of her dresses. “I think the bold style. It’s sexy, and I love to highlight a woman’s form.”
She also said: “I loved the feeling it gave me seeing a bride’s face when she wore the most special dress of her life. It’s an honour and a thrill to design such an important dress.”
The designer started designing wedding dresses in 2014. You can purchase her dresses starting from £6,000 and £9,000 at the Morgan-Davies Bridal boutique in London. In an interview with Bridal magazine in 2015, she explained: “A wedding is such a significant event in a woman’s life, and it’s how she feels wearing the dress that emphasizes her features, and can make her feel like the queen of the night.”
Markle has a fashion stylist friend who also might help her in the choice. This is her Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney.
Here are the possible fashion designers that Meghan might choose:
1. Alexander McQueen
He was the one who designed the Duchess of Cambridge’s gown, and is also among the favorites.
Some suppose that she is going to choose an international designer, as she’s American after all.
2. Oscar de la Renta – romantic design
If Meghan decides to support a U.S. designer, she might choose a classic gown from Oscar de la Renta. He has dressed Amal Clooney, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Anna Wintour. The designer died in 2014, but the label carries on with the duo Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. This type of dress would cost her a minimum of £15,000.
This style involves big skirts, trains, and lashings of glitz.
3. Following Victoria Beckham – short and modern style
Meghan told U.S. Glamour magazine: “I love Victoria Beckham dresses .” The Beckhams are friends of Kate and William and attended the Royal wedding. Is it possible that Victoria designs Meghan’s wedding dress?
4. Ralph & Russo
This British-based label is run by Australian couple Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo. They do their dresses handmade. Meghan could choose this style with some over-the-top embellishments.
5. Erdem Moralioglu
The Canadian is most likely to be her designer. His style is very romantic.
6. Jessica Mulroney
She is Markle’s close friend, and has already helped Meghan pick a wedding dress — for her Suits character Rachel Zane. The choice was ‘romantic’ and ‘perfect’, according to Meghan. Would she choose her friend to design her dress?
7. Emilia Wickstead
She designs elegant wedding dresses for the wealthy and well-connected. Emilia has had clients like Gwyneth Paltrow and Diane Kruger. The Duchess of Cambridge has also worn her designs. Will meghan go for classy and simple?
8. Alice Temperley
Somerset – based Alice Temperley could be an interesting choice as she creates romantic and flowerish dresses. Alice represents that ‘posh hippy’ look that the British upper class loves.
9. Elie Saab
Elie Saab creates glamorous dresses that would make Meghan look exotic! The Lebanese designer with an atelier in Beirut has designed for many film stars worldwide.
