While Disney may be shaking up its attitude towards women, with the introduction of badass characters like Merida from Brave and Elsa from Frozen, dropping the obligatory wedding finale, and exploring mother/daughter or sibling love, they still have a way to go in redressing the female form. Disney princesses consistently defy body reality and place more pressure on young girls to conform to an unattainable standard of beauty. Disney princesses waists just can’t support bodies. They are physically impossible. Where do the organs go? Loryn Brantz, an illustrator, has decided to revise the classic, outdated shape and offer a more life-sustaining alternative. We wouldn’t want our favorite princesses keeling over from malnutrition right?
Check out her sketches below
1. Ariel from The Little Mermaid
Ariel turns into The Realistic Mermaid.
Now Ariel’s liver and intestines can breathe a little.
Her waist is smaller than her neck, that’s got to be uncomfortable.
This realistic Pocahontas looks much better!
3. The Beauty And The Beast
Her Belle’s waist must be suffocating.
Even with natural curves the princess STILL looks beautiful! Unbelievable!
4. Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty
Disney body shape hasn’t changed since the 60s.
Here she is, in her ralistic body shape.
5. Snow White
Children are affected by all the images they absorb.
6. Elsa from Frozen
Such a small, but significant difference! Why can’t Disney princesses look like this in movies?
7. Jasmine from Aladdin
Her waist does not exist in the real world.
Wow, check out edgy Jasmine…
8. Tiana from The Princess And The Frog
Disney has the power to help change attitudes.
9. Rapunzel from Tangled
Disney can start reversing the trend anytime they want and give their characters real bodies.
Here is the improved Rapunzel. Small difference that counts so much!
