He has been famous for so many years now and is a beloved treasure – yes we’re talking about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. His wrestling catchphrase was the foundation of my own childhood memories and people who new him from the WWF probably have a soft spot for him as an action movies star now.
But this he has this cousin, who is on-screen double and looks very much like him.
Johnson has so much love and devotion for his family and talks about his heritage often, mentioning how proud he is to be both Samoan and Black. His love for his Samoan grandmother knows no bounds but also to his extended family too.
Tanoai Reed is Dwayne’s Hawaiian-born cousin who looks so much like him. Both Reed and Dwayne come from the Anao’is gene pool in Samoa, that is known for producing dozens of athletes. According to Reed, the hardest part about being a stunt double is the fact that he has to keep up with his cousin on the regular. If Dwayne needs to put on 30lbs so does Reed.
Reed has actually been Dwayne’s double since The Scorpion King and they have developed a tight bond. Reed has acted as his cousin’s double since ever since. He put up a touching Instagram post filled with pictures of the two of them wishing him all the best in life.
Reed’s current goal is to raise enough money to repair his old high school gym and isn’t too concerned about keeping up with Johnson.
