Eating disorders present a serious threat to the overall health of teenagers in America, and adults are not immune either. With society’s pressure to look a certain way, more and more people suffer the consequences. How do we keep up, really, when it’s Twiggy in this moment, and then a Kardashian/Jenner in the next?
Gemma Walker was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa and bulimia, two severe eating disorders which were life-threatening in her case. She weighed 63 lb, and doctors told her parents that she would only have 48 hours to live, if she didn’t receive medical help immediately. It was so bad, her father had to check if she was breathing every morning.
Seven years later, Gemma is now doing fantastic, and she shared her recovery photos, hoping that they would help others in their journey to recovery.
She weighed only 63 lb (roughly 29 kg).
