Is ‘The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air’ Finally Going To Return To The Big Screen?

If you were a 90s kid, you may remember the hilarious sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and the phenomenal acting by Will Smith as a smart teenager. The Amercian sitcom originally aired on NBC from September 10, 1990, to May 20, 1996. Will has a working-class background, although he is sent to live with his rich relatives in Bel Air.  In the series, his lifestyle often clashes with the lifestyle of his relatives in Bel Air. The series ran for six seasons and aired 148 episodes, but the fans will be surprised to hear that the show is apparently coming back to the big screen. The DJ, real name Jeffrey Allen Townes, 52, appeared to confirm the show was likely to return during a recent interview.

Speaking to the Sun, he said: “There have been talks with people about doing something. I think it would be cool if they did it and go down memory lane again.

“It’s a blessing to be part of something that people still hold in high regard. You can’t beat that.

“It’s hard for people to keep their attention span normally, but to be able to keep it for all these years and transcend generations, put their kids onto it, this is deep.”

For the show’s 20th anniversary, the cast reunited. Smith, Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton Banks), Tatyana Ali (Ashley), Karyn Parsons (Hilary), Daphne Reid (Vivien) and Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey the Butler) all gathered together and there were more speculations that the show is coming back.

The news comes as Jeff will reunite with Smith on August 27 for a performance at the Livewire Festival in Blackpool, England. He also discussed their music together.

Jeff explained: “This has been a long time coming. I have been fighting for it. Being one of the biggest movie guys in the world, it was really about Will’s schedule and freeing up the time. But Will’s heart is still in music – he keeps talking about it and bringing it up. I told him ‘listen, man, we need to satisfy that heart’.”

However, the DJ made no indication to The Sun that Smith, 48, will be a part of a reboot. Actually, just a year ago, Smith denied rumors that the show had any chance of returning.

“I don’t think ever, like pretty close to when hell freezes over,” he said. “Like we’re going to leave that one alone.”

Hopefully, he will have a change of heart soon. Fans would love that.
