32-year old Prince Harry of Wales, and 35-year-old Prince William, Duke of Cambridge have had a lot of memories to share with their late mother. Although it’s been almost 20 years since Diana has left us without her unstoppable smile and good spirit, there is still so much to talk about her and her family. Besides being a loving mum for Prince Harry and William, she was also a naughty and hilarious one as well. If you remember her as the queen of the 90s outfits, you may not remember how she used to dress her sons. Sometimes, she would dress them bizarre outfits, which were more than hilarious. After all, we cannot blame her, because 90s fashion was extreme at times.
Harry remembers his days spent with his mother: “I genuinely think she got satisfaction out of dressing myself and William up in the most bizarre outfits – normally matching. It was weird shorts and little shiny shoes with the old clip-on. Looking back at the photos it just makes me laugh and I think, ‘How could you do that to us?’
“And funnily enough we got to the age when William would turn around and go, ‘This is ridiculous, I’m the older brother. Why do I have to be dressed the same as him?’ And I’m sort of thinking, ‘Hang on a second, if you’re going to dress differently, I’m not going to be the only person dressed like this. This is ridiculous!'”
Here are some of their most bizarre outfits that are so adorable from today’s perspective!
1. You can see it from their faces that they are not happy to wear matching bright red shirts and stripy shorts.
Dressing the same as your brother is never satisfying!
2. Nothing says summer like pale yellow shorts and bright white jumpers.
The boys looked dashing in their seasonal attire as they arrived in Scotland with Diana for their summer holiday. They are not even aware of these outfits!
3. William and Harry stood out in matching powder blue coats, white gloves, white knee high socks, and blue buckled shoes.
While the other little boy got to wear brown tweed instead. How not cool is that?
4. 1991 was all about double denim and elasticated waistbands, remember?
William and Harry wore the combo like no one else. Of course, Princess Dana was always there to complete the look with matching baseball caps.
5. William and Harry wore matching check shirts in 1985.
William got away with it lightly in the corduroy shorts, while Harry doesn’t look so happy with these dungarees.
6. No, these ’80s patterned tops aren’t pajamas, folks!
They are jumpers for daytime wear. The royal siblings wore the matching outfits to support Prince Charles play polo with their nanny in 1987.
