It’s always been said that drinking a cup of black tea can lead to ugly yellow or brown stains on the teeth. This may be true about black tea, but green tea actually does something pretty unexpected for dental health!
In fact, mouthwash that contains green tea extract can remove teeth stains entirely! This method is also better at removing plaque than commercial mouthwash.
Although mouthwash is designed to fight plaque and gingiviits, we use it for an entirely different reason, and that’s fresh breath. Who wouldn’t want breath that smells like mint candy, and comes with names like arctic chill or peppermint blast?
Some brands of mouthwash actually contain alcohol, which can light your gums on fire (not literally). An example is the original Listerine formula.
The alcohol content in some of these brands is so high that they are completely banned in prisons. Alcohol also has the ability to dry out mucous membranes, which can lead to bad breath.
Most other brands of alcohol-free mouthwash aren’t any better. They’re filled with chemicals, fake flavors and artificial colors. It seems quite counter-intuitive to use junk-filled products to maintain good oral health.
