Guinness Recorder To Be, The World’s Oldest Cat Turned 31 And Still Has Many Lives Left

While blowing the candles on his birthday cake, this cute kittie made a wish to be officially the worlds oldest cat. Nutmeg celebrated his 31st birthday which calculated into human years means he is 141 years old. He walked into his owners back yard 26 years ago in Blaydon, Gateshead in the North East of England.

Nutmeg’s owners told the media that he is the boss: ”He rules the house, and he’s absolutely gorgeous.”

Ian Finlay, 66, who is a retired delivery man and Liz, 62, supermarket worker, explained that when they found him, he had an abscess on his neck. The humans had to take him to the Cats Protection for treatment where they learned that Nutmeg is at least 5 years old.

This means Nutmeg is the oldest cat in the world. The humans have to show the documents to prove his age to qualify him for theGuinness Records. Liz and Ian Finlay say they are working on it.

Sadly last year Nutmeg had a severe stroke, but he recovered, and he is strong again.

“He is not our cat, we are his humans and he never lets us forget that. Maybe that is the secret to his long and happy life.”

The Finlays were happy to open their doors and  took the cat in in 1990.
