Gun Control, Naivete And The Aftermath

A Worried Mother Raises An Extremely Important Issue After What She Thought Was Child Play

Stacey Feeley from Michigan had her naivete thrown right back her into her face. It was just another day in their household when she found her three-year old daughter in the bathroom, standing on top of the toilet seat.

Stacey snapped her daughter playing so she would send the photo to her father.

While she was at it, she casually asked her daughter what she was doing, so that she could learn something more about her game.

Her daughter said that she was practicing a lockdown exercise that the kids are taught of in school.

Stacey took to an incredibly informed, unbiased and well-versed post to share her story and address the issue of gun-control.

“The moment she told me what she was doing I broke down. She was practicing for a lockdown drill at her preschool and what you should do if you are stuck in a bathroom,” wrote Stacey.

“At that moment all innocence of what I thought my three-year-old possessed was gone.”

This post came right after the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting.

In a reactionary gesture on current gun-control legislations and bills, the Democrats instigated a 24-hour sit-in protest on the floor of the United States House of Representatives. It happened the week after the Orlando shootings as well as Stacey’s post.

In a short footage of CBS, in which we see the reports of the sit-in as well as a brief interview with Stacey, she says that her daughter is not really aware of what she is practicing for.

From the context, and as a gut-reaction to any sentient being, you are aware that parents are just terrified of having to imagine their kids in the midst of a scenario of this nature taking place.

“They are barely 3 and they will hide in bathroom stalls standing on top of toilet seats,” wrote Stacey.
“I do not know what will be harder for them? Trying to remain quiet for an extended amount of time or trying to keep their balance without letting a foot slip below the stall door?”
She and many more see the problem in a highly unregulated gun-control bills and regulations.

Lori Agdamag shared a similar story under Stacey’s post:” This breaks my heart that my 8-year-old has to fear or even learn what a lock down drill is.”

“When I was here age we had Earthquake and Fire drills – there wasn’t a fear that some Psycho would come to our school with a GUN,” she added.

Anne Brewer thinks that gun-control won’t do any good:” Criminals will find guns no matter if they are outlawed.

They won’t go thru the vetting process to purchase them. Gun control laws don’t apply to those who don’t follow the laws.”
She added: ”Harsher, quicker penalties will deter the lawlessness that was condoned by the past administration.”

It is indeed troublesome to think that the world has come to this point. My heart goes out for all the parents, and anyone who has lost someone due to negligence and mistake in handling and owning guns.
