Diets are not exactly the easiest thing in the world for a lot of people. I mean, the only real way to lose weight is through diet and exercise. No pill or concoction will ever help you out properly, let’s be frank here. And most people will tell you that in order to lose the pounds, you need to cut back on all those carbs. So, you’d imagine that if your diet consisted only of potatoes and nothing else, you’d lose no weight at all, and in fact you might even gain a bit. Not so…
You see, Mr. Andrew Flinders Taylor signed up for the Spud Fit project, a weight loss plan that requires him to eat only potatoes and nothing else for a year. And guess what! He lost 110 pounds!
According to Andrew, he’d eat three kilograms of both regular and sweet potatoes every day, to make sure he had a good intake of iron and vitamins, and he would never use oils to cook his food.
99% of his daily calories were from potatoes while he was on the plan, while the rest were from low fat sauces and seasoning.
A lot of dieticians were concerned before Andrew departed on his plan, mainly to do with not getting sufficient nutrients per day and it having an impact on his social life, as his extremely restricted diet could also lead to disordered eating.
Andrew proved all of this wrong, as he’s completely healthy and lost 110lbs (50kg, for you metric peeps out there) in a year, just from 3kg potatoes and 1 hour of cycling per day.
