The Instagram Star Caught Photoshopping Pictures Of Herself In Exotic Locales

Amelia Liana is known to the Internet as a  “social media influencer.” Yeah, that means that she is internet famous mostly for being internet famous. On her Instagram account, she has over 472,000 followers and lists herself as a “Fashion, beauty & travel blogger.” Amelia posts glossy, brightly-colored pictures of herself in exotic locations.

It seems like Amelia lives a “dream life” and posts a lot of pictures about it online.

The glossy magazine-style pics might be the reason that dragged her followers to her initially but they are also the thing that is garnering some unwanted attention and criticism.

Now people have decided that there is a little too much Photoshop in Amelia’s pictures and they’re calling her out on it. This post of her at the Taj Mahal has people crying foul. It doesn’t matter if you have been to the Taj Mahal or not, but for sure it is never this empty. It is one of the biggest tourist attractions in India, there are no ‘quiet days’.

One commenter put it like this: “You can see this is photoshopped because the reflection on the water, notice how the Taj Mahal seems compressed to fit inside the pool… this is not how reflections work.”

And then there’s this pic.

Amelia explained that sometimes she creates an image rather than taking it since it’s way more appealing. Anyways, she’s always at the location she posts about.

Folks had feelings.

“Inauthentic” is one way to put it.

Even news outlets have started pointing out some of the more blatant incidents of image manipulation.

People had questions too:

2. All my imagery is actually shot at the time in the location I specify. ”
Then how come you had a four year old image of NY???

But not everyone is bothered by the image manipulation, though.

Katja straight up doesn’t care if the pictures are Photoshopped.

And Sophie thinks we’d all do it if we could.

What do you guys think?
