The Internet Is Not Happy With The Lyrics Of Taylor Swift’s New Songs

The sixth studio album, Reputation, by many people’s favorite pop singer and songwriter Taylor Swift is already here! It was released on November 10 through Big Machine Records. What’s new this time is that the English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran and the American rapper Future are both included as featured artists in the track End Game. While some fans were not so happy about some of the lyrics of the songs before the album even came out, it has since topped the charts in many countries. These include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Reputation sold 1.216 million copies in the US during its first week. This made it 2017’s best-selling album in the country! Are you still not in love with her song’s lyrics?

Before the album was released, Taylor Swift gave us a peek into the album with singles like Look What You Made Me Do, …Ready For It? and Gorgeous. However, the lyrics to the track, Call It What You Want, are turning a few stomachs. Where to start? Fans strongly believe that it’s about Joe Alwin, Taylor’s current boyfriend. Twenty-six-year-old Joe is a rising British actor and also the latest face of Prada.

Fans have also noticed a number of callbacks in the lyrics. Some are grossed out by the song, and the lyrics apparently contradict lyrics from Taylor’s previous love songs.

There’s an entire Reddit thread of fans that discussed the lyrics.

There is no doubt that the song is different than the others. Some fans have been praising it as well.

Except for one line…Which raised a few eyebrows.

Here it is: “I’m laughing with my lover, making forts under covers, trust him like a brother.”

It’s more than awkward, right?

Some people couldn’t believe she rhymed ‘lover’ with ‘brother’.

This person even made a Cersei and Jaime Lannister comparison.

Some, on the other hand, tried to defend her.

Others didn’t see a problem at all.
