After one of the more incredible transformations ever witnessed on television, a guest on The Jeremy Kyle Show looks almost unrecognisable. Gemma Swift first appeared on the show in January 2015, in a segment called ‘Stop harassing me just because I’m sleeping with your ex’. But it wasn’t the story that she was having a relationship with her friend’s ex-boyfriend that captured the viewers’ attention. Instead, it was her dental situation that caused an uproar on the Internet.
Trolls on Twitter started calling her “Tooth Lady”
The fact that the way Gemma’s teeth looked was the result of an accident she had suffered when she was 6-years-old didn’t stop people from ridiculing her on social media. Swift, from Crawley in southern England, confessed that the last thing she expected was such a negative reaction. She said, “After the show, my teeth caused a social media meltdown. The abuse was terrible, I just wanted to cry. I actually had a breakdown.”
But today she looks completely different thanks to an exclusive treatment paid for by The Jeremy Kyle Show. The dental corrections are believed to have cost £10,000 (around $13,000). The whole procedure was filmed by ITV and the sequence was aired during her second appearance on the show where she showed off her new brilliant smile. “It’s changed my life. I can look in the mirror now and not worry about anything. I’m a whole different person now,” the elated Gemma told Jeremy.
Lance Knight, the dentist in charge of Gemma’s transformation, also appeared on the show with her explaining that more work still remains to be done. But Gemma’s life has already been changed for the better thanks to his expertise, and she thanked him warmly saying,”If it wasn’t for him… I just want to thank you so much.”
The happy ending
According to an insider source, Gemma is now officially dating her boyfriend, Tony. After her makeover, he is no longer ashamed to be seen with her. In fact, the happy couple were even spotted kissing in public.
The response from the Internet after Gemma’s amazing transformation has been generally positive, with people praising the way she looks now. But not everyone is being supportive. Some people feel saddened by the fact that she was forced to change to be accepted.
I don’t care what people say, #JeremyKyle is great! So pleased to see Gemma happy with her new teeth!
