Prince William and Kate Middleton just congratulated Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their engagement. They admitted that it has been “wonderful” meeting the actress, model and humanitarian, confirming rumors that the Prince introduced her to the rest of the royal family.
In a tweet from the official palace account, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said: “We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.”
It is believed that Prince Harry first introduced Meghan to his older brother and his wife back in January, after seven months of dating. It is believed Queen Elizabeth II met her on Mother’s Day, Sunday the 26th of March.
Last month, the new couple were rumored to have taken their afternoon tea with The Queen at her home in Buckingham Palace. The meeting traditionally took place at 5 pm.
Additionally, Kensington Palace just confirmed that the Queen had been told the happy news before the announcement went public.
And in a separate statement from the Royal Family’s official Twitter, the monarch said: “The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness.”
The 36-year-old Meghan will not become a princess after she marries Prince Harry. Kate didn’t become one, either when she tied the knot with Prince Williams back in 2011.

When Kate and William got married, the Queen granted them the dukedom of Cambridge. It’s believed that she will grant Harry and Meghan dukedom as well, with that being the Dukedom of Sussex, a title which has been extinct since 1843 when Prince Augustus Frederick passed away leaving no successors. That would make Meghan, Her Royal Highness Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
