This Woman Lost Over 50 Pounds In 6 Months Despite Eating Chicken Wings And Chipotle


Elyse Capestany is a 23-year-old kindergarten teacher who has been on the keto diet since May 25th, 2017. She has lost 57 pounds so far and has learned many new things along the way. This type of diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate one. In medicine, it is used to treat difficult-to-control epilepsy in children, and it’s recommended for people who have diabetes. Elyse used to have 206 pounds and 44% body fat. Now she has 149 pounds and has cut her body fat down to 25.5%! That’s one incredible transformation. The kindergarten teacher shared her weight loss story with POPSUGAR. For her, losing weight was about so much more than “looking good in a bathing suit.”

The 23-year-old told POPSUGAR, “It’s about having healthy levels of cholesterol without pumping in medication; it’s about reversing diabetes; it’s about waking up in the morning and putting on clothes without crying!”

She exercises at least 6 days a week and is also on the keto diet. “There are many types of keto, and I do a more whole-food approach,” Elyse said. She likes that the diet is diverse and eats a lot of lean meats and vegetables, paired with “healthy fats like avocado, coconut, nuts, seeds, and some dairy like sour cream and cheese.”

She can also indulge in “traditional wings, bunless burgers, steak, and Chipotle.” Yummy!

Now, the Highland, California resident eats 90% clean and makes a concerted effort to limit dairy. Also, Elyse eats between 1,200 and 1,500 calories on any given day, and she explains: “I am never low on energy. I have energy simply from doing keto!” This diet turns your body into a fat-burning machine which means you will have a lot of energy. When it comes to her diet she eats two big meals every day. “My first meal is at 12 p.m. and the second is around 5 p.m.,” she explained. “I don’t drink anything in the morning except water. This allows me to eat two bigger meals and feel satisfied all day!”

Even if this diet is known to be controversial, Elyse says that she loves being on it. “Your body is amazing and gets used to not eating breakfast quickly!”

Also, she is aware that exercise has countless benefits and started going to a gym and taking small-group HIIT classes. “It’s different exercises in each station with weights, and when we rotate, we do cardio in between for about 30 seconds,” she said. “It is amazing!”

One problem she struggled with throughout her weight-loss journey was overcoming her binge-eating disorder. However, she states that she is happier and healthier than ever.

The kindergarten teacher has a good piece of advice for women who are trying to lose weight:

“It’s about remembering that you are worth it, you deserve it, and you will be better because of your effort! It’s about being happy mentally and physically and being able to do things like go hiking or play with your kids! Health matters both mentally and physically.”
