Kim Kardashian spoke of the Paris robbery on Keeping Up With the Kardashians for the first time after the incident.
Sitting on a couch between sisters Khloe and Kourtney, Kim recounted some horrific details from that night.
In the aftermath of the robbery, 17 men were questioned under suspicion they were connected to the robbery and many of them were charged.
5.6 millions of dollars worth in jewelry were stolen from Kim.
“What I think happened now, after like thinking about it so much, is that there was probably a group of guys following us the entire trip,” said Kim.
The thieves chose bicycles as their means of transportation. Bicycles are silent, light-weight, fast and can be maneuvered through side alleys where there are no cameras or police to stop you and question you.
The incident happened 20 minutes after Kim stayed alone in her room. Pascal Duvier, her bodyguard, was with her sisters Kourtney and their half-sister Kendall Jenner. They were out for a night out at the L’Arc club in Paris.
“I was snapchatting that I was home and that everyone was going out, so I think they knew Pascal was out with Kourtney and that I stayed by myself.”
Kim suspects that they were overseeing their 16,000 dollars ‘Sky Penthouse’suite that they were staying in from across the street.
She decided to call in a night and stay in the suite.
“I was laying in bed like ‘should I wash my face, I am so tired, I’m in my robe, I need to get up, I need to wash my face’ and then 10 minutes later I was dozing, dozing… And then I heard pounding up the stairs,” recalls Kim.
“I thought it was you and Stephanie drunk…”
She called out for them but there was no answer. It was at that moment she realized something was not right.
Looking through the partly opened door of her room, she saw two guys holding another guy down. They were dressed in police uniforms. Kim later realized that the guy that they were holding is the hotel’s concierge.
Just in split seconds, she decided to run to her bed where the phone was, managed to dial Pascal’s number, but she was cut short by a man behind her who took the phone from her hand and threw her on the bed.
This is the part where it gets messy.
Her mouth was duct-taped so she wouldn’t be able to scream. Subsequent events led her to believe that she was about to get raped.
“He grabs my legs and I had no clothes on under [my robe],” she said. “He pulls me towards him at like the front of the bed and I thought, ‘OK, this is the moment you’re going to rape me’. I fully mentally prepped myself… and he didn’t.”
What the man did was to only tape her legs.
However, she was held at gun point.
“They had the gun up to me and I just knew that was the moment that they were just totally going to shoot me in the head,” Kim said.
They used the concierge as a translator. She was asked to point the spot where her engagement ring was and her jewelry box.
The end to this whole horrible drama was prompted by an incoming call from her bodyguard.
“I told [the thieves], ‘You know who is ringing now? It is her bodyguard. If she doesn’t answer, he will come with police’,” the concierge told Vanity Fair.
Kim is not indifferent to the whole thing and to this very day remembers in horror what had happened to her. Being the strong woman that she is, she decides to not let it get her down.
“I took a tragic, horrific experience and did not let it diminish me, rather grew and evolved and allowed the experience to teach me.”
