Beautiful Love Story: It Was The Only Ring Her Husband Could Afford, And Her Reaction To A Rude Woman Is Priceless

In a world where diamonds are worth as much as their marketing, it’s pretty hard to propose in a manner that will be only and exclusively about love. Movies did this, Tiffany’s did this and all those competitive friends that put their hands up immediately after they’ve received a glorified request to share a household.

Okay, you may accept that last sentence as oversimplification of the act of asking someone to share your life, love, good and bad. And isn’t that what proposals are supposed to be? Asking someone to love you to the moon and back, and promising that you’ll love them even more in return? How did we end up with ‘who’s got the bigger bling’, then?

Apparently, we have that problem now. You show the rock-hard proof (pun intended) of your engagement, and yes, people are usually happy for you, but there’s always the inevitable question ‘let me see’, where you’re expected to show your palm. And then, silver or platinum, zirconia or diamond, a session of judging is unleashed. Judging and comparison. What piece of work is man!

“My husband doesn’t have a lot, neither of us do.”

This is the story of Ariel Desiree McRae and her husband. They’re so much in love.

“We scrape and scrape to pay bills and put food in our bellies, but after almost 2 years of dating we decided that we couldn’t wait anymore, so we didn’t. I wasn’t even thinking about rings, I just wanted to marry my best friend, but he wouldn’t have it.”

“He scraped up just enough money to buy me two matching rings from Pandora. Sterling silver and CZ to be exact. That’s what sits on my ring finger, and I am so in love with them.”

And now, be prepared to get flushed by anger.

“While we were purchasing my rings however, another lady that was working there came over to help the lady selling them to us.”

“She said, ‘Y’all can you believe that some men get these as engagement rings? How pathetic.’

When she said that I watched my now husband’s face fall.”

Can you believe that woman?

“He already felt bad because he couldn’t afford the pear-shaped set that so obviously had my heart and covered my Pinterest page. He already felt like a failure, asking me again and again ‘Are you sure you’ll be happy with these? Are you sure this is okay?'”

Guy, not everyone is lucky to find love. In fact, very few people find the love of their life. Rings are so not that big of a deal.
