Oh, how we wish we could tell beautiful love stories like ALL the time, but unfortunate ones keep coming too. And sometimes things just go wrong. A woman from Renfrewshire, Scotland was more than devastated when she found out that her lover got married to a German tourist while she was in Scotland giving birth to his child. Her best friend sent her the picture of them getting married.
Heather McGillion met Adonis Rodriguez in the Dominican Republic as they were working as entertainers for the same hotel.
After one year of relationship, Heather got pregnant with his child and the pair made full plans to live on the Caribbean island as a family.
When they were already in a relationship, Heather didn’t notice Adonis becoming friends with a German tourist named Julia, on Facebook. Since then, they have been messaging each other but Heather forgot about it a as soon as she got pregnant.
“For a second I didn’t twig who it was. Then to my horror I realized it was Julia,” she recalled. She was a German tourist who came to stay at the hotel. About a year before I had noticed Adonis had become friends with her on Facebook and they had been messaging each other.
It was nothing sexual but it made me feel uneasy.”
She had some complications during pregnancy so she had to return to Scotland until she would give birth. Adonis couldn’t get a visa so he stayed behind.
And then, a long-distance girlfriend’s worst nightmare: A friend sent her a picture of Adonis and the German woman in a wedding dress.
“When I opened the message it felt like I had been hit by a double-decker bus,” Heather said.
“We had only been apart for a few weeks and there was no way Adonis could have met another woman and arranged a wedding in less than a month,” Heather said. The woman? German tourist Julia. She had been visiting Adonis every six months, and on her fourth visit, while Heather was in Scotland, Julia and Adonis got married.”
She added: “She was unrecognizable from the slightly plump, mousy woman I had seen on Adonis’s Facebook page. In fact she now looked like me. She had lost weight and dyed her hair to look just like me, only with added wrinkles.
When I phoned Adonis and asked ‘Why is Julia in a wedding dress?’, there was a pause and then he said: ‘Heather, I’m so sorry’,” said the mother of Adonis’ child.
Heather and baby Diego moved back to the Dominican Republic which is where her mother moved after retiring. After all of this, they separated but she wants Diego to see his father.
