Our smiles are one of the first things people notice. This is one of the reasons why we need to take care of our dental health. Of course, that is not the most important one because poor dental health can lead to many other health problems. Also, people with bad dental conditions are treated antisocially because they don’t smiling. Going to the dentist can be hard for some reasons like:
- The cost
- The pain
- The risks
Also, many studies are pointing out the damaging effects of conventional teeth whitening. Tooth sensitivity is a common side effect, and bleaching can also damage the enamel of our teeth. So why spend your money on expensive chemical whitening?
Instead, you can make some of the natural recipes to whiten your teeth at home. Here’s a list of different products you can use to get a dazzling white smile without destroying your enamel:
Don’t be confused with the yellow color of this spice. It is proven that turmeric can whiten teeth. Also, it is very effective in eliminating any bacteria in your mouth and has anti-inflammatory properties. If you decide to use turmeric, mix one tablespoon with water and make a thick paste. Brush your teeth with the paste for 3 minutes. Spit and rinse until the yellow is gone.
Bentonite clay is an amazing source of calcium, magnesium, and silica, all of which are enamel boosters. You can use this method twice a week for better results. Make a paste with the the clay and water. Then brush for two minutes and rinse thoroughly.
Coconut oil pulling
Although it is believed that coconut oil is the best for this method other plant-based oils also work. Sunflower, sesame and olive are a few other favorites. Basically, oil pulling is a centuries old practice of letting your teeth ‘soak’ in the oil before you brush and rise. In order to do this properly put some coconut oil on your teeth and let it rest in your mouth for 20 minutes. Then spit it out, brush normally.
This one is considered the one with the biggest superpowers. Activated charcoal is a natural, non-toxic substance known for its ability to remove toxins from any surface it touches. Therefore it’s often used to treat food poisoning. First, dip your toothbrush in warm water, then dip it in the charcoal. Brush your teeth gently, and use the charcoal to massage your gums if you want that extra toxin-cleansing boost. Then spit and rinse.
