Mariah Carey, 47, recently posted a provocative photo of her and her new boyfriend on her Instagram. On the 28th of February, the singer shared a shot in which she and her former backing dancer Bryan Tanaka are kissing passionately.
Tanaka, 33, has been with Carey ever since the Butterfly singer broke off her engagement with billionaire Australian businessman James Packer. It wasn’t until February this year, though, that Carey confirmed Tanaka was her boyfriend in an interview.
The mother-of-two captioned the post with a quote from Will Ferrel’s film Blades of Glory, writing: “No one knows what it means, but it’s provocative … it gets the people going!”, adding a winking emoji.
It is the latest one in a string of provocative posts since she started dating the Washington State born dancer.
On Valentine’s Day, only a week after confirming they were dating, Carey shared an image of herself relaxing in a bathtub with Tanaka. Carey was sporting a black strapless bikini, while her boyfriend relaxed shirtless, with both of them posing with champagne glasses and the bottle nearby.
Mariah captioned the post with the words “Happy Valentine’s Day!! #happy #moments #bubbles,” while her companion reposted it adding his own Beatles-inspired twerk to it “Happy Valentine’s Day!!! #AllYouNeedIsLove.”
When asked about her romance during an interview with the Associated Press, Carey was adamant she did not want to share her privacy, however she did refer to Tanaka as ‘my boyfriend: “I really don’t talk about my personal life, because that’s what I used to do and it really worked for a minute, back, a while ago. I just don’t feel comfortable talking about my personal life… Me and my boyfriend don’t want to do that.”
The media were quick to notice that the 33-year-old did not accompany his older girlfriend at Vanity Fair’s post-Oscar party, but they need not have worried. The couple met up afterwards for a late-night dinner at Mastro’s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills, California.
