He Got Married With The Love Of His Life In The Last Weeks He Had Left To Live

An ill cancer patient, Chris Ford form Nashville, Tennesse got married to the love of his life Nicole Wismer even though he had only some weeks to live. The couple were going to get married on October, 2015 but the doctors told Nicole that he might not make it.

“When the doctor told us, it was Nicole and I sitting in there, and Nicole just looked at Chris and said, ‘You still want to marry me, don’t you?’ ” recalled Amy Ford, Chris’ mother.

“It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been together, no matter the circumstances — it shouldn’t matter. I love him too much [to walk away],” said Nicole Ford after the wedding.

Chris had been struggling with cancer for a year. With Nicole they have a son, Tristan. Meanwhile, Chris was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth and throat but the doctors gave him 80 percent of survival.

“During the course of his treatment, his tumors continued to grow and grow. They also grew into his lungs and some of his other organs. About a month ago, he was diagnosed as terminal,” said Amy Ford, Chris’ mother.

Nicole thought that it was “now or never” if they wanted to get married.

The wedding was held Aug. 28 at a donated venue in east Nashville, according to the Daily News Journal.

Since the massive medial bills were pretty expensive they didn’t have very much money for a wedding. That’s when Nashville Chive stepped in with a mass of volunteers willing to help.

“People we never even knew contacted us,” said a very emotional Amy. “We had DJs, photographers, videographers, people offering to cook, florists, our cakes. … the guy who owns City Liquors in LaVergne called and said, ‘What do you need?’”

The wedding took place on August 28, 2016 where the bridesmaids wore coral-colored linen sundresses and the boys wore gray vests with aqua ties. The bride wore a sequin-embroidered strapless white gown and the groom looked the same as his groomsmen.

At that time, Chris was unable to stand for long periods since he had to wear an oxygen mask as he waited for his bride. As soon as Nicole steps in, a huge smile goes through his face. He was unable to talk because the cancer was very advanced.

Still, he managed to dance with Nicole despite his condition.

Unfortunately, Chris died on September 25, 2016.
