Meghan Markle’s Reclusive Father Speaks Out About His Daughter’s Engagement

A royal fever has us all trembling. Thirty-six-year-old actress Meghan Markle and Prince Harry officially announced they are engaged to-be-married on 27 November. They are set to marry at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May next year. Normal people and the media went crazy about the event and announcement. A forensic artist created images of what their children will look like, whereas Meghan’s half-sister Samantha is writing a book about their childhood called The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister. However, people were also eagerly waiting for Meghan’s father to appear and give his opinion. And he just did! He was tracked down by the British tabloid The Mirror and gave an interview.

British tabloid The Mirror tracked down Meghan Markle’s reclusive father, Thomas Markle. The 73-year-old man is a retired Hollywood lighting technician who lives in Mexico, near Rosarito Beach and was apparently shopping for beer and cigarettes when the reporter found him. According to Meghan’s brother, Tom Jr., their dad “loves her but hates the idea of being in the spotlight.”

The Mirror reporter brought Thomas champagne and tea and they went on to proceed with the interview. When he was asked what he thought about the engagement, Thomas replied: “I’m very pleased. I’m delighted.” Then, when asked if he would walk his daughter down the aisle, the proud father said, “I’d love to.”

As you can tell from Meghan’s adorable Father’s Day post on Instagram, the two have a wonderful relationship. In the caption, Meghan thanks her father for everything he has done in her life.

“Thanks for my work ethic, my love of Busby Berkeley films & club sandwiches, for teaching me the importance of handwritten thank you notes, and for giving me that signature Markle nose.”
