Family birthdays can sometimes be awkward, but as you get older, the relationships with some family members can become even harder to deal with. Being a kid, you probably used to buy cliche presents and gotten away with it, but when you’re older, the gifts you buy or make someone should be meaningful and thought out. With the rise of social media, a lot of people use Facebook or Instagram to wish their partner/family/friend another satisfying year through photo collages of their memories, videos, messages etc.
But one celebrity who always rocks at marking a family member’s birthday is definitely 41-year-old Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds. He and his wife Blake Lively have become masters of the comedic “happy birthday wish” on social media. Everything started in August when the Vancouver-born posted a picture of him and his wife in celebration of her birthday.
The famous actor shared the picture with his 15.8 million followers on Instagram and the post went down an absolute storm. But his wife is a savage, too, so she made a comeback with her own quirky “happy birthday” wish for Ryan’s birthday.
In case you are wondering, yes, that’s Ryan Gosling.
But, the original prankster this time has his eyes set on his brother Jeff. On December 1, it was Jeff Reynolds’ birthday so People‘s Sexiest Man Alive for 2010 pulled into the birthday battle once more.
He uploaded a cute picture of him and Jeff’s children on Twitter and wrote:
“Jeff, if there was a fire and I had to choose a family member to save, obviously it’d be me. But if I had time to save one more, you can be damn sure I’d call the fire department. They’re experts in the field and have vast experience in these matters. I love you. Happy Birthday.”
As you can see it’s as affectionately-savage as it can get although it wasn’t the first time that the actor sent a hilarious message to his brother for his birthday. Last year he sent him an adorable message on Facebook. writing:
“Happy Birthday to my big brother, Jeff. Seems like just yesterday you were changing my diapers, even though it was well over a week ago.”
And that’s why we all wish we were married to Ryan, rather than related to him through birth!
