The Perfect Christmas Present: Fallen Stars On A Necklace

Fallen Stars

Do you ever dream about taking down the stars off the sky for a special someone?

This holiday season you might have a chance to do just that. The Meteorite Y Necklace is “the closest you can get to giving the moon and the stars” according to its designer, Andrea Vidmar.

Andrea Vidmar’s Las Vegas company Jabber Duck is a family start-up design house. It aims at fun and innovative art, fashion and home decor solutions mainly through the use of recycled and repurposed objects. They firmly believe that being ‘green’ and living sustainably does not have to mean that one cannot look glamorous and extravagant.

Andrea explained the symbolism of the Meteorite Y Necklace:

“A “falling star” or a “shooting star” has nothing at all to do with a star! These amazing streaks of light you can sometimes see in the night sky are because of tiny bits of dust and rock called meteoroids falling into the Earth’s atmosphere and burning up. The short-lived trail of light the burning meteoroid produces is called a meteor. Meteors are commonly called falling stars or shooting stars. If any part of the meteoroid survives burning up and actually hits the Earth, that remaining bit is then a meteorite. This sterling silver Y Necklace arrives in a gift box with velvet pouch and certificate of authenticity.”

Her unconventional childhood instilled an undying curiosity in Andrea Vidmar. According to her biography, she spent her childhood among different cultures and people. Those experiences imprint on the art she is creating today. She finds both inspiration and raw materials in the wealth of treasures nature has put all around us. And she enjoys transforming it into wearable items both for women and men. Her strongest inspiration is the opportunity to share something with a fellow human being, therefore creating a meaningful, long-lasting bond.
