37-year-old former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams attended North America’s largest weekly gathering of Christian students, and shared her faith, her success journey and led students in worship. On October 9, at Liberty University’s Convocation, which is the largest weekly gathering of college students in the world, the American recording artist and actress had a huge surprise for the gatherers. Students asked her to call Queen B, the former Destiny’s Child singer, but she wasn’t so happy about it and decided to pay them back with a prank.

Liberty University’s Convocation was held in the Vines Center of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

During her talk, Williams was asked to do something we wish we all could do: call her friend Beyoncé.

As the video shows, the former Destiny’s Child singer seemed annoyed by the request. She said: “You all just used me, and I don’t appreciate it,” as well as “You all are so shady.” Even though Williams reminded the crowd that Queen B just gave birth to her twins Rumi Carter and Sir Carter this summer, the moderator continued with the wishes for her to call B.

Finally, Williams agreed and made the call. She, of course, received a voicemail recording saying “Hey, it’s B. Leave a message.”

Watch the video at about the 19:18 mark to see her making the call.

But that’s not all! It seems like there is more to the story, folks! Michelle played a joke on the audience, and a good one! In a series of tweets, the recording artist revealed that she never actually called Beyoncé. As a matter of fact, it was a prank and she used a girl’s number to make her plan come through.

“It was a prank goofballs!!” she tweeted with a few laughing emojis. “No real numbers were used…..the voice on the voicemail was a young Lady from the university.*slaps knee*”

Williams went on to apologize to people who felt tricked by her prank. She also explained that the joke was “not my idea” and that she agreed to do it before the whole program even started.

What do you think of this prank? It must be annoying to live in B’s shadow, but Michelle had her own career going! Anyway, she apologized quickly after the event and I don’t think anyone had hard feelings about it.

Remember Beyoncé’s photo of holding her twins and showing them for the first time in public? Here is what it looked like.
