Many of us can’t imagine their childhoods without Hannah Montana. Miley Cyrus basically grew up before our very own eyes but what seemed like a dream job to most kids, might have been a lot harder than we thought at the time.
Between 2006 and 2011, Miley starred in the musical comedy television series Hannah Montana where she played a normal teen, Miley Stewart, who lives a double life: she is a normal schoolgirl by day, while at night she transforms into an eponymous pop sensation.
But recently, the singer opened up in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning about what the role meant to her and how it affected and changed her as a person.
The singer said, “I liked being in the Disney universe because I didn’t know anything else. I knew I was getting to live what I wanted to do.”
She, however, added, “I think now that I’m older, I realize that’s a lot to put on a kid.”
Today, when looking back, Cyrus finds dressing up a kid as a pop superstar weird: “Having me dress up in a wig, as a kid, is a little weird, it’s a little Toddlers in Tiaras.”
She admits performing both characters during the Best of Both Worlds North American tour – spawned by the success of the show’s soundtrack – was not easy for her: “I think it got harder when I started touring as both — I toured as Hannah Montana and as myself.”
She added, “I think that is probably what’s a little bit wrong with me now. I mark that up to doing some extreme damage in my psyche as an adult person.”
Miley released her sixth studio album named Younger Now at the end of September and seems to be doing very well now also with the engagement to Liam Hemsworth. How do you guys feel about her opening up about the role that made her famous? Let us know!
