One of the toughest battles that people seem to face is losing weight. You get yourself to an unhealthy weight, you realize it, it makes you feel bad about yourself, аnd then you have to go through the tough challenge of ditching the takeout and sweet food for healthier options. However, if you’re dedicated, eat the right foods and do the necessary exercise, weight loss is totally possible, and there are thousands of stories on the internet that prove this. Like, for example, this couple that was declared morbidly obese and then lost a combined weight of 308lbs.
Danny and Lexi Reed were both overweight when they got married. Danny weighed in at 280 lbs, while Lexi weighed in at 482 lbs, which classed them both as morbidly obese. For those that don’t know, when your body mass index (BMI), which is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in centimeters squared, is over 40, that means you are morbidly obes. This also means you have a significantly higher risk of weight-related health issues. The 28-year-old and 26-year-old from Indiana, USA, decided to do something, so back in 2016, they introduced a change in their lifestyle and eating habits, and they lost an incredible 308 lbs combined. Their combined weights were a whopping 762 lbs, and they ate a combined 8000 calories a day (4000 each), most of those calories being contained in fast food.
Lexi, who works as a receptionist, said:
“I was always terrified of breaking furniture when eating out, people would stare at us and it’s no real surprise as we weighed a combined 55 stone. We never ate vegetables and never tried to be healthy, everything we ate would either be fried or from a fast food restaurant.
“We were easily eating 4,000 calories a day each, we didn’t know where to stop. Every year I would make the same New Year’s resolution and would never stick to it, but January 2016 was different and we stuck to it. When we started dating we put on a lot of weight together, we spent most nights revolving our dates around going for dinner.
“It’s what our relationship revolved around, most days we would go to a Chinese buffet and eat three-four plates each before getting home and ordering takeaway. My size controlled my life and it was also affecting my health, I had difficulty breathing and I’m pretty sure I was pre-diabetic, people don’t understand how hard it is to be overweight. I was once turned away at a theme park because I was too big to fit on the rollercoasters, it was humiliating. “
“Once we put our mind to it, the weight quickly started to fall off. I have since lost nearly 238lbs and Danny has lost 72lbs. Danny and I are still working hard every day, our journey isn’t over yet, but never in a million years did we think we could get where we are today, it’s incredible.
“Danny was really supportive and we started to make everything from scratch at home, we found alternatives ways of eating food that we loved, so we would still eat pizza but it would be a healthy option. I think that’s what made it easier, we didn’t feel like we were depriving ourselves of our favorite foods.”
#transformationtuesday couple style. We started our journey January 1, 2016 as a New Years Resolution. I’ve lost -234lbs & he’s lost -58lbs for a total of 292lbs together! We traded in our lazy nights on the couch, eating terrible foods & binge watching netflix for the gym & healthy meals. Losing weight is hard & even harder when those you love don’t support you. I’m one lucky girl to have someone who always loved me no matter what size & saw who I could be. We now have a more adventurous relationship & can do more active things together such as hiking, walking, bike riding, etc. This journey has brought us closer together & we have changed our lives as well as the lives of our children one day. We’re looking forward to a much longer future together & are still working hard on our goals daily. Surround yourself with those who see the greatness in you, even when you don’t see it yourself. ❤ #fitness #fit #fitfam #swolemate #workout #lift #cardio #transform #gym #inspire #mealprep #eatclean #extremeweightloss #progress #fitnessmotivation #noexcuses #traintogetherstaytogether #fitcouple #eatclean #weightloss #fattofit #obesetobeast #motivation #plussize #weightlossjourney #workout #love #husband #beforeandduring #adventure #life
