Fans of the 1991 Disney animation feature ‘Beauty and the Beast’ were out of their mind when Disney announced the live-action remake.
The excitement grew when they cast Emma Watson aka Harry Potter’s Hermione Granger, and it got even crazier when we realized that 77-year old ‘Lord Of The Rings’ star, Sir Ian McKellen was to play Cogsworth!
With a star-packed cast and all the original songs, the movie will hit theaters around the world on March 17, 2017, with the slogan “Be Our Guest” inviting actual and eternal children to come and enjoy it.
Did you know that Robert Pattinson was briefly considered for the role of the Beast? And, according to the movie’s IMDB page, when director Bill Condon first spoke to Disney about adapting Beauty and the Beast (1991), they actually weren’t sure they were going to do this new version as a musical. Condon said, “With all due respect, I think you’re crazy. The songs are too good.”
“You’re going to spend all this time making a huge, gorgeous live-action “Beauty and the Beast” and not do ‘Be Our Guest’?”
And, according to Disney, the first teaser trailer was viewed 91.8 million times in its first 24 hours. This marks the first teaser trailer of “Beauty and the Beast” to be the most viewed teaser trailer in history. Beating the previous record by Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ (88 million views), followed by Captain America: Civil War (61 million views), each of them Disney films as well.
Everything looks amazing, and so many of the scenes are authentic:
