Meadow Walker, 18, and German sports car brand Porsche have reached a settlement in the lawsuit over the tragic death of her father Paul in November 2013. The suit was settled on October 16 with both parties asking for the dismissal of the case.
Paul Walker’s only child, Meadow, filed the lawsuit against Porsche in 2015. She claimed that her father’s death was caused by the incorrect installment of the car’s safety features. Namely, Paul was unable to exit the vehicle due to the faulty seat belt and he was burned alive in the Porsche’s passenger seat.
Reflecting on my father, I found myself reflecting on his passions. His passion for the ocean, his passion for rescuing animals, his passion for helping people and his passion for spontaneous goodwill. I wanted to start this foundation because I want to share that piece of him with the world. I want to share that part of him with others. I am tremendously proud to be launching The #PaulWalkerFoundation (@paulwalkerfdn) on his birthday. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my father. #DoGood
Over Thanksgiving weekend back in 2013, 40-year-old Paul Walker was headed to a charity event with his friend Roger Rodas, 38, when they had a horrific car accident in Santa Clarita, California. Rodas, a professional driver himself, was behind the wheel of the Porsche Carrera GT, driving over 80 mph in a 45 mph zone. The car hit a tree and a lamp post and then caught on fire. Neither of them survived.
Meadow’s lawsuit stated that Porsche had previous knowledge of the Carrera GT’s ‘instability and control issues,’ and that Paul had survived the initial impact, but his subsequent death was the result of him being trapped by his seat belt.
Paul William Walker III, Paul’s father, also sued Porsche and reached a settlement, according to court documents.
In a previous lawsuit from 2016, this time against Roger Rodas, Paul’s friend and financial advisor who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash, Meadow was awarded $10.1 million.

Paul hadn’t wrapped up filming Furious 7 when he passed away. His scenes were completed using his brothers, Caleb and Cody, as stand-ins.
Paul Walker worked on the Fast and Furious franchise alongside Vin Diesel. Apart from coworkers, the pair were close friends as well. Diesel, 50, is the godfather of Meadow, Paul’s daughter with ex-girlfriend Rebecca Soteros.
Diesel posted a very emotional tribute to Paul, following the tragic accident which saw his friend’s untimely death.
In 2016, while filming Furious 8, he shared a sweet story on Instagram which shows that the Fast and Furious cast and crew still fondly remember Paul.
Many of the crew members who have worked on several of the past Fast films are here again to help us make something special. One of them at the end of the week came up to me and said wow what we are capturing on film is excellent… And then looked at me and said Paul would be proud. #wemakethemwithourhearts
The Instagram post contained a photo of the pair of them smiling, and Diesel captioned it:
“Many of the crew members who have worked on several of the past Fast films are here again to help us make something special.
“One of them at the end of the week came up to me and said wow what we are capturing on film is excellent… And then looked at me and said Paul would be proud.”
The latest instalment of the franchise, The Fate of the Furious, was released in April 2017. Paul wasn’t part of it, but the movie managed to pay him a subtle tribute. Vin Diesel’s character, Dominic Toretto, names his son after Brian O’Conner, who was portrayed by Walker.
Here’s the official trailer :
Paul Walker was part of the street racing action-packed saga from its very beginning in 2001. He conquered the hearts of the audience both with his brilliant stunt work, and with his amazing performance in the more emotional scenes. May he rest in peace.
