Lawyer Amal Clooney has not let her pregnancy deter her from what she does best: fight for the rights of the less privileged. Back on the 9th of February, The Talk’s Julie Chen first announced that Beyoncé was not the only famous person expecting babies at the time, but that Amal is also carrying twins.
More than a month later, the Lebanon-born human rights activist continues to go full throttle undeterred by her pregnancy. On Friday, the 10th of February, the 39-year old appeared at the United Nations headquarters in New York City to urge the world ‘not to let ISIS get away with genocide’.
It was a follow-up on her visit to the UN six months when she first seeked accountability for victims of Isis, and the barrister was not afraid to show her disappointment at the lack of progress.
“Not one ISIS militant has faced trial for international crimes anywhere in the world. Why is it that nothing has been done?” Clooney asked. “Somehow we are no closer to justice today than when I addressed you last year. I’m asking you today to stand up for justice. Every conflict reminds us that there can be no lasting peace without justice. Justice is also what the victims want.”
