Rebecca Black, the absolute goddess of pop music hasn’t awarded us with her attention for a while now. I remember it like yesterday when she sang her famous monotone chorus, going like:
“It’s Friday, Friday
Gotta get down on Friday
Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend, weekend
Gettin’ down on Friday
Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend”
Mmm. Damn that was BRILIANT! *shakes head to tune*
She was 13 when she droned on about “FRIDAY FRIDAY GOTTA GET DOWN ON FRIDAY”
Please come back, Rebecca!
But what is the pop star doing now? Has anyone seen her recently? Well, Pretty25 has some news on the absolute best singer of all time. Turns out that Rebecca Black is now 20, and – surprise surprise – is STILL making music.
Recently, she released a new song, called “The Great Divide” and it was so good it got into the Top 25 chart on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs. In fact, she even has 1.3 million YouTube subscribers, and almost a million Instagram followers. (Why? How?) I guess she’s making… Really good posts.
But poor Rebecca still has nasty flashbacks from the “Friday” era. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, she admitted that much, saying: “I’d be lying if I said I was totally over the Friday stuff and that it doesn’t affect me. When you’re 13, and you get so many people giving you death threats, telling you that you don’t deserve to live this life, calling you ugly, fat, terrible, the worst person in the world, that will affect you.”
OUCH. I never realized she had it THAT bad. I mean, the song is terrible, but it’s the entertaining, good kind of terrible. You know, like the worst best movie of all time, The Room. At least Rebecca put a song out, you dolts! Why do you have to bully her? Jesus.
The singer then went on to add: “I just try to give myself a break every now and then, and take some of the pressure off of trying to prove myself to everybody.”
Plus, Rebecca’s kinda… Gotten pretty hot.
I do believe gorgeous is the word.
She’s a lot of fun on Instagram too, netting a million followers!
Always look on the bright side of life! She deserves it, after the Fridaypocalypse.
Selfies make frequent appearance on her Insta.
Well. May you have a better comeback this time, Rebecca, and good luck!
I’ll play “Friday” one more time though…
