Who hasn’t suffered from blackheads? They are a complete nuisance, but thankfully they’re harmless. We always try our best to keep our skin looking silky smooth and then those little bastards appear! What can we do but purchase whatever products promise us to get rid of them? That’s how we end up spending thousands of dollars on creams, serums, and wipes, and sometimes it’s still not enough! And not only do those pesky blackheads still persist, it even starts to feel as if your skin problems are becoming more resilient the more you treat them. But, our goal remains the same: achieve the perfect crystal clear skin, and we will always keep on trying.
How do blackheads form?
The oil and the dead skin cells slide into the exposed pores and hide below the skin surface forming a pocket of gunk. Since they’re located in the open pores, they oxidize in contact with the air and turn black. Then we take up arms against them: we squeeze them, poke them, prod them, and the result is very sore and red skin. And it’s a vicious cycle. We may have won the battle, but not the war. What we need is a much more effective solution. And apparently we got it.
The Reddit routine
Yoofka is a Reddit user who got fed up with constantly scrubbing her face with various products, so she decided it was time for a change. She set herself a goal: get rid of the blackheads in one month. She succeeded.
Yoofka documented her progress with a series of pictures in a post titled “The difference a month makes.” In it she provides the details of her new and highly effective routine. Before that she used a charcoal cleanser, acid toner, and moisturizer but they had stopped working for her, so she had to find alternatives that did.
She completely replaced all the products she previously used, and the improvement is easily noticeable in the photo above. This is what her routine consists of now:
- remove the makeup with Lancôme Energie de vie cleansing oil;
- exfoliate the skin with NEOGEN Dermalogy Bio-Peel Gauze (green tea);
- cleanse the skin with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser, suitable for all skin types;
- apply Differin to a clean and dry face;
- moisturize with Aquafor Healing Ointment; and finally
- tone the skin with Akaran Moisture Lotion.
Yes, it’s a bit complicated with a lot of steps to follow, but the result is definitely worth it. “My skin has never been more supple or texture-less in my 22 years,” the Reddit user concludes,
The knowledge of this new method has spread through the online beauty community like wildfire. Everyone wants to see if the Yoofka way will work for them as well. All skin types are different, so the results aren’t guaranteed, but why not give it a shot? It might be the miracle cure you’ve been looking for.
