Are we finally getting the Spice Girls comeback tour that all diehard fans deserve? The group was immensely popular back in the 1990s before they broke our hearts when they disbanded, with speculations about reunions constantly resurfacing ever since.
After the Spice Girls posed for a snap together earlier this week, it initially looked like we were finally getting the comeback tour we so badly need! However, one person doesn’t seem up for it. You guessed it – it’s Posh Spice!
Last week, pictures of Mel B, Mel C, Emma arriving at Geri Halliwell’s house did the rounds. Victoria also posted a picture with the five of them together, saying she was ‘excited’, UNILAD reports.
According to TMZ, the meeting was held to start planning for a tour!
The gossip website reported:
“Sources connected to the women tell us the meeting was for ‘rough planning’ and the goal is a world tour that will kick off in late summer. Our sources say the plan now is for the group to hit the stage in England first and then migrate over to the US. There is NO plan for a Vegas residency and no plan to record new music.”
Sources also claimed that Pop Idol creator Simon Fuller will be the one to manage the Girls during the tour.
However, another source claims that Victoria won’t be singing, thus making the talk of a reunion irrelevant.
An insider close to the band told The Sun:
“This is the pop reunion no one thought would ever happen again. But after a long period of negotiation Victoria agreed the time is right to work on new projects this year. It’s very exciting because she has always been adamant she wouldn’t go back…Victoria and Geri agreed it would be impossible to be part of a fully-fledged tour because of family and business commitment. Now that she’s a top designer Victoria is concerned about singing but she wants to make money to pump back into her business.”
Sadly, Victoria has confirmed that there would be no reunion at the moment.
When British Vogue asked the designer if she planned to join her former bandmates on the road, her response was a bit disturbing for the fans.
“I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour,” Beckham told the publication while at the New York Fashion Week. She also commented on the reunion photo that circulated last week: “It was so great to see the girls. We had such a fun lunch. It was really, really, really lovely.”
Are you disappointed? I know I am!
Hopefully, the five girls who changed our lives two decades ago will reunite again soon, if only to take a picture together.
Here is more on the snap they posted.
