Pure genius !
Thane Chiquinho Scarpa is one of the richest and most powerful men in Brazil. He recently stirred a wave of negative reactions when he announced on his Facebook page that he plans to bury his beloved Bentley Continental Flying Spur.
He said ”he would bury his $367,220 Bentley so that he would be able to drive it in the afterlife. He was inspired by the Egyptian Pharaohs who were buried with their most precious belongings.
He even posted photos of himself digging a hole for the car in the yard of his mansion. He triggered a wide range of reactions on the social network website. Obviously, most of the reactions were negative labeling him as a crazy and selfish person.
Why wouldn’t he donate the car to charity?
A TV Channel sent a Helicopter to fly over his mansion broadcasting live to the whole country.
But, there is a twist.
“People condemn me because I wanted to bury a million dollar Bentley, in fact most people bury something a lot more valuable than my car,” Scarpa said during a speech at the ceremony. “They bury hearts, livers, lungs, eyes, kidneys. This is absurd. So many people waiting for a transplant and you will bury your healthy organs that can save so many lives.”
After Saying this statement all of the negative comments turned into declarations of support .
Organ donation has never been so much publicity debated. More than 172 million people have been reached via social media. It was the no 1 trending topic in Brazil and no 2 in the world. The Post about organ Donation had 743% more shares than the Bentley burial ones. Organ Donation Increased by 31.5% in just 1 month .
“I have not buried my car, but everyone thought it was absurd when I said I’d do it. It is absurd to bury their bodies, which can save many lives. Nothing is more valuable. Be a donor, tell your family”.
