Sabrina the Teenage Witch was perfect after school viewing in the 90’s. Sabrina, that house, the aunts, Salem and Harvey all had their own sort of magic.
Rumors of a remake may have been snuffed out, but that doesn’t stop us retro reminiscing as the show celebrates it’s 20 years debut anniversary, September 1996. Gosh that’s old!
1. MELISSA JOAN HART (Sabrina Spellman)
Clarissa Explains it All, had already introduced Melissa Joan Hart to teen screens in the the early 90s, but Sabrina really carved her into a household name.
Melissa said Adieu to Sabrina after seven seasons, a couple of TV films and a cartoon series in 2003.
Since then she’s finished ninth in Dancing With the Stars in 2009, and returned to the sitcom world in 2010 with Melissa and Joey, which ran for five seasons. Catch her most recent role in God’s Not Dead 2, if you’re into that kind of thing!
2. NICK BAKAY (Salem Saberhagen)
Salem the sarcastic cat was voiced by Nick Bakay, who also wrote several of the episodes and the cartoon spin-off. He also voiced Norbert in The Angry Beavers, and later co-wrote Paul Blart: Mall Cop and its sequel. He has also popped up in various TV shows including King of Queens, Ellen, and Mom.
3. CAROLINE RHEA (Hilda Spellman)
Caroline played Sabrina’s fun-loving aunt Hilda in the whole series. After 2003 she hosted reality show The Biggest Loser for three seasons.
She was also the voice of Linda Flynn-Fletcher in 201 episodes of Phineas and Ferb from 2007 to 2015. Lately she popped up in an episode of 2 Broke Girls.
4. BETH BRODERICK (Zelda Spellman)
Beth played the smart aunt Zelda for the first six seasons before the character sacrificed her adult years to resurrect Sabrina, and thus became a child again (you had to be there).
After the show ended she played Kate’s estranged mother in Lost, and as Rose in Under the Dome. In 2014, she reunited with Melissa Joan Hart in a couple of episodes of Melissa & Joey:
