40-year-old Shakira loves showing off her body no matter if she’s filming or on stage. The Colombian performer has amazing belly dancing skills and after releasing her eleventh studio album named El Dorado last year, the singer is up for a new world tour.
But what does she do to keep her body in such excellent shape?
Nowadays, the 40-year-old hits the gym more than ever now. Even though she has to take care of her two little kids and make sure to spend time with her longtime partner, soccer player Gerard Pique, she makes sure to always find time to eat healthy according to her trainer, Anna Kaiser.
Kaiser spoke to E! about all the work that goes into making Shakira’s body what it is. Apparently, there is one simple secret behind her regimen that keeps the star fit and healthy.
Kaiser said: “Shakira eats three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a protein in every meal and fresh veggies or small amounts of low glycemic fruit), and for a snack mid-afternoon, she reaches for . . . soup.”
It is that soup that helps the superstar stick to the diet.
Kaiser continues, “Instead of grabbing a sugary snack, Shakira has some broth. At four o’clock, when people are craving caffeine and a cookie, soup is a really great option because it fills you up and feels like a meal so it can keep you going until dinner, but it’s not hugely caloric.”
“We would do a cacao topped rice cake or half of a protein bar, or I got her some chocolate tea which kind of feels like a treat with some dehydrated fruit. So it’s about allowing yourself to have a lot of different things in small quantities and keep it as fresh as possible.”
Even though this is nothing revolutionary, hard work and perseverance are key. For Shakira, it leads to an amazing body and allows her to perform long and grueling global tours.
The Waka Waka singer works out five days a week and her workouts are based on her heart monitor.
This is what Kaiser says “keeps her the most focused”.
For the Columbian singer not to get bored with the diet plan, Kaiser comes up with colorful and varied meal plans and instructs Shakira’s on their implementation.
The celebrity trainer, who has been voted one of the 100 most influential people in health and fitness explains:
“We do some protein shakes, protein pancakes, and I would peel a couple of oranges and slice them up and top them with turmeric and cinnamon. It is pretty much about making it fun and different and also the presentation.”
